As the summer winds down and we head into September, we enter that magical time of year where young men and women across the country are venturing out on their own to begin their college careers.
We are struck with the nostalgia of an autumn campus; the play of leaves on the ground; the crisp scent in the air. While colleges and universities are preparing their lecture halls and readying their curriculum, parents are bracing with hope and trepidation alike as their sons and daughters venture out to embrace dorm or apartment life for the first time.
While excitement is palpable on and off campus, safety officials and parents cannot let it overshadow the very real hazards that can loom ahead. September is Campus Fire Safety month, and Denlar wants to make a point of educating young adults about the very real risks of fires.
According to the U.S. Fire Administration (USFA), an estimated 3,800 university housing fires occur each year in the United States, with 88% being cooking fires 1. With this serious statistic in mind, below are a few posters that we at Denlar would like to offer to all college and university campuses as tools for educating the students entering your halls.
