Heading off to college is an exciting milestone for young men and women. It allows young adults to experience the freedom of being on their own. It also comes with an increased amount of responsibility.
Living in a dorm or apartment comes with the need for fire safety awareness and implementation of best practices. Unfortunately, this is not always common knowledge and must be taught.
From 2017-2021, U.S. fire departments responded to an estimated annual average of 3,379 structure fires in dormitories, fraternities, sororities, and other related properties. These fires caused annual averages of 2 civilian deaths, 23 civilian injuries and $12 million in direct property damage. 1
September is Campus Fire Safety Month! This is the perfect opportunity to review best practices and put these practices into action!
